The RDX^® QuikStor™ Backup Solution

We have recently begun replacing our old, less reliable, tape backup solutions with a new product from Tandberg Data. This is the RDX^® QuikStor™ exchangeable drive system, which consists of a 'docking station' and a set of cartridges. The dock is available in 3 basic formats:

• Internal SATA in 3.5" or 5.25" format
• Internal USB in either format
• External USB as shown in the image on the left

The cartridges maintain compatibility between all models so a backup made on a server equipped with an internal SATA model may be read on another system that uses an external USB model.

• Easy

  RDX^® QuikStor™ combines the simplicity of tape based backup with the speed and flexibility of a hard drive. Compact internal or external drives take neat pocket-sized cartridges. Each cartridge is a rugged miniature hard disk - your computer will recognise it and provide instant access and easy drag and drop control. Or simply run the backup software provided for a total backup of your hard drive. When a cartridge gets full, just insert another - simple!

• Fast

  RDX^® QuikStor™ is designed to sustain data transfers up to 45MB/sec - that’s more than 162GB/hr. With capacities of 80, 160, 320 and 500GB of data on a single cartridge you have enough capacity to back up your entire computer, ensuring your data is fully protected yet instantly available. Recording is fast - so is backup restoration. There is none of the rewind delay of tape systems. Access is near-instant, allowing you to work directly with data on the cartridge, just as you would with any other hard drive.

• Rugged

  Drives are tough, and cartridges are shockproof, and rugged enough to last for over 10 years - knocks and drops don't mean lost data. Plus your valuable data may be protected through strong encryption offered within Yosemite Backup, ensuring complete peace of mind.

• Portable

  The cartridges are small and durable, so you can slip them in your pocket to take away. Store them offsite for archiving - or use them to transfer data to another computer.
  

• ^†CDP with RDX^® FileKeeper™

  RDX^® FileKeeper™ is a revolutionary backup software package that combines two important technologies into one simple solution—continuous data protection (CDP) and disaster recovery protection. By providing byte-level CDP on all user data, and file-level backup for all systems data, every document is protected as it is saved to disk, regardless of whether the system is connected to or disconnected from the RDX^®.
  With CDP, the RDX^® automatically stores new data as needed throughout the day, and single file de-duplication keeps only those bytes of data that change. RDX^® FileKeeper™ offers simple right click access to earlier versions of files while easily protecting against accidental deletions, corruption and accidental overwriting.
  
  Disaster recovery backup allows users to make complete system images—snapshots of the system at points in time—to provide complete protection against hardware failure and other disasters. If the customer is using Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista, the DR can be done directly from the RDX^®.
